Coordination of Environmental Awareness  Programs

Karen’s educational programs at Brush Turkey Enterprises are a testament to her dedication to environmental education and community engagement. One of her notable initiatives is the coordination of the Sunshine Coast Kids in Action Program, a hands-on and interactive educational experience designed for young learners. This program focuses on instilling a love for nature and environmental responsibility in children, fostering a sense of connection to the local ecosystem through engaging activities and outdoor adventures.

In addition to her work with the Kids in Action Program, Karen has been a key organizer of Bat Nights for the Sunshine Coast Council. These events are aimed at raising awareness about the importance of bat conservation and dispelling myths surrounding these often misunderstood creatures. Through informative presentations, guided roost walks, and interactive sessions, participants gain a deeper understanding of the vital role bats play in maintaining ecological balance.

Karen’s expertise extends to the realm of bushfood, and she shares her knowledge through captivating presentations and immersive cooking classes. These sessions delve into the rich diversity of native Australian flora, exploring the culinary potential of indigenous plants. Participants not only learn about the nutritional benefits of bushfoods but also gain practical skills in incorporating them into their everyday meals. Her bushfood presentations and cooking classes offer a unique blend of education and sensory experience, encouraging participants to appreciate and integrate sustainable, locally sourced ingredients into their diets.

Overall, Karen’s educational programs reflect a holistic approach to environmental education, encompassing the young and old alike. Through her diverse initiatives, she not only imparts valuable knowledge about the natural world but also inspires a sense of stewardship and appreciation for the environment, fostering a community that is well-informed and actively engaged in preserving the ecological heritage of the Sunshine Coast.
